Seal hydraulic oil:

In the power steering system, the power steering oil seal can prevent hydraulic oil leakage, maintain the hydraulic pressure in the system, ensure that the hydraulic oil flows in the system according to the prescribed path, provide sufficient power for steering, and enable the driver to easily turn the steering wheel.

Prevent impurities from entering:

It can prevent dust, dirt, moisture and other external impurities from entering the power steering system, avoid impurities from causing wear, corrosion or blockage to the gears, pistons, valves and other parts inside the system, and ensure the normal operation of the system.

Rotary oil seal:

Rotary oil seal: Mainly installed on rotating parts such as steering shafts, usually with a rubber and metal bonded structure, with a main lip and a secondary lip. The main lip is used to seal the hydraulic oil to prevent leakage; the secondary lip can enhance the sealing effect and also play a dust-proof role. It is often used in the connection between the steering column and the steering gear, etc. When the vehicle turns, it can adapt to the rotation of the steering shaft and maintain good sealing performance.

Reciprocating oil seal:

Generally installed on reciprocating parts such as the rack shaft of the power cylinder, mostly a composite design of metal and rubber, with integrated support rings and oil return grooves and other structures. Suitable for the reciprocating motion seal of the piston in the power cylinder. During the steering process, it can withstand higher pressure to ensure that the hydraulic oil forms an effective pressure difference on both sides of the piston to achieve the power steering function.

Materials

Nitrile rubber (NBR): It has good oil resistance, wear resistance and aging resistance, can adapt to a certain temperature range, and has relatively low cost. It is a commonly used material for power steering oil seals, which can effectively seal hydraulic oil and prevent oil leakage.

Fluororubber (FKM): It has excellent high temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance and oil resistance, and can maintain stable performance in harsh environments such as high temperature and high corrosion, but it has a high cost and is often used in power steering systems of high-end models or special vehicles with high sealing requirements and harsh working environments.

Hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR): It has good comprehensive performance. It has both the oil resistance of nitrile rubber and better heat resistance, aging resistance and tear resistance than nitrile rubber. It has a relatively high price and is suitable for occasions with high requirements for oil seal performance and complex working conditions.

Regular inspection:

Check the power steering seal regularly for signs of leakage, wear, aging, etc., and check the level and quality of the steering oil. If the oil level is too low or there is leakage, find the cause and repair it in time.

Keep it clean:

Keep the outside of the power steering system clean to prevent dust and impurities from entering the system. When checking or repairing the steering system, ensure that the operating environment is clean and avoid foreign objects from entering.

Correct use and operation:

Avoid the vehicle being in extreme steering state for a long time or frequent sharp steering operations to prevent the power steering system from being over-pressured and causing damage to the oil seal. According to the requirements of the vehicle manual, regularly replace the power steering oil to keep the oil clean and in good performance.
