Galvanizing passivation sealing process

31 Jul.,2025

As an important anti-corrosion process, galvanizing passivation sealing is widely used in metallurgy, construction, transportation and other fields. Reasonable process flow and strict operation requirements are the key to ensure its anti-corrosion performance and stable quality. This article introduces the process flow of galvanizing passivation sealing in detail, hoping to be helpful to you.

1. Pre-treatment
The process of galvanized passivation sealing includes cleaning, pickling, washing, galvanizing, passivation, washing and sealing. Before carrying out this process, the material needs to be pre-treated.

First, the material needs to be inspected to determine whether its quality meets the requirements. Then the material is mechanically cleaned to remove oil and other substances on the surface. If it is not cleaned thoroughly, it will affect the subsequent treatment effect.

2. Cleaning
Cleaning is the first step of galvanized passivation sealing. In this link, the dirt and other substances on the surface of the material need to be cleaned to prepare for subsequent treatment.

When cleaning, a special cleaning agent is required. Soak the material in the cleaning solution, and after the cleaning agent removes the dirt and other substances on the surface, wash the material with water.

3. Pickling
Pickling is one of the key links in galvanized passivation sealing. In this link, the oxides and suboxides on the surface of the material need to be removed, the surface needs to be activated, and preparations for subsequent treatment are made.

When pickling, you need to use a special pickling solution and pay attention to the concentration and temperature of the pickling solution. After the material is offline, it needs to be rinsed with water and treated with chemical neutralization water to ensure that the pickling solution is completely removed.

4. Water washing
In the galvanizing passivation closure, water washing is a very important link. After pickling, the pickling solution and other impurities on the surface need to be completely removed, otherwise it will affect the galvanizing effect of the next step.

When washing with water, you cannot use too hot water. Generally, tap water at room temperature is the best. The washing time also needs to be controlled. Too long or too short will affect the subsequent treatment.

5. Galvanizing
Galvanizing is one of the key links in the galvanizing passivation closure. In this link, the material needs to be immersed in the galvanizing solution, and a zinc layer is formed through an electrochemical reaction, which can effectively protect the steel from oxidation and corrosion.

The composition and temperature of the galvanizing solution need to be within the normal range. The operator needs to make adjustments according to the actual situation to ensure that the quality of the galvanized coating is stable and reliable.

6. Passivation
Passivation is one of the necessary links in the galvanized passivation closure. In this link, the zinc layer on the surface needs to be passivated to enhance its corrosion resistance and prepare for subsequent treatment.

The concentration and treatment time of the passivation solution need to be within the normal range. For steel with high quality requirements, thickening and peroxide immersion treatment are also required.

7. Water washing
Similarly, water washing is required in the galvanized passivation closure link. After passivation, the passivation solution on the surface needs to be cleaned to ensure the stability and reliability of the next treatment effect.

The method and process of water washing are similar to those of cleaning and pickling.

8. Sealing
After completing the cleaning, pickling, water washing, galvanizing and passivation, the next step is to carry out sealing treatment. At this time, it is necessary to use adsorbent materials and specific sealing materials for sealing to improve the corrosion resistance and maximize the protection of the zinc layer.

When sealing, it is necessary to select suitable materials and strictly control the quality and amount of materials. At the same time, for different types of steel, specific sealing treatment is also required.
