A major milestone has been achieved in China's marine oil and gas industry as the second phase of CNOOC Engineering's intelligent manufacturing base in Tianjin's Binhai New Area officially commenced operations on October 30. This marks the completion of China's first intelligent factory for marine oil and gas equipment.
The Tianjin base, covering approximately 575,000 square meters, was constructed in two phases. The first phase began operations in June 2022, and construction on the second phase started in July 2023. With the launch of the second phase, core facilities including four smart production workshops, eight auxiliary production centers, sixteen assembly stations, and a dock suitable for large vessels have been fully established, doubling the production capacity.
This intelligent factory is set to revolutionize the marine oil and gas equipment manufacturing sector in China. By leveraging advanced technologies and intelligent systems, it aims to enhance production efficiency, quality control, and safety standards. The facility is expected to play a crucial role in meeting the growing demand for marine oil and gas exploration and production equipment, both domestically and internationally.
As China continues to expand its presence in the global energy market, initiatives like this intelligent factory demonstrate the country's commitment to innovation and technological advancement in the energy sector. It also highlights China's efforts to promote sustainable development and ensure energy security through the development of advanced manufacturing capabilities.
