PEEK dental discs are made of high-performance polyetheretherketone material. It has high strength, fatigue resistance, wear resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance, good biocompatibility, and minimal stimulation to human tissues. Meanwhile, it is easy to process and can be made into various shapes and sizes. It has low density, comfortable to wear, and can also transmit X-rays, making it convenient for doctors to check. It is a dental product with excellent performance.

Here are some of its main features:
1. Excellent material properties:
Good biocompatibility: Similar to the elastic modulus of human bones, it has low irritation to human tissues and can be used as an implant material. It can be used in the dental field to reduce patient rejection reactions and has a good bonding effect with human tissues during long-term use.
Strong mechanical performance: excellent strength and fatigue resistance, high rigidity and toughness, able to maintain good stability in the complex mechanical environment of the oral cavity, not easy to break or deform, and able to withstand large chewing forces.
Wear resistance: It has good wear resistance and can maintain good surface integrity during long-term oral use, reducing damage to the dental disc caused by wear.
Chemical corrosion resistance: It has good resistance to chemicals such as acids and alkalis, is not easily corroded by saliva, food residues, and other substances in the mouth, and has a long service life.
Transparent X-ray: During dental X-ray examination, PEEK dental discs do not significantly block X-rays, making it convenient for doctors to observe the bonding between teeth and discs, as well as the condition of surrounding tissues.
Easy to clean: The surface is smooth, not prone to dirt attachment, easy to clean, and beneficial for maintaining oral hygiene.
2. Good processing performance: PEEK is a thermoplastic material that can be processed through various methods such as injection molding, extrusion, mechanical cutting, etc., and can produce various shapes and sizes of tooth discs according to different needs.
3. Comfortable to wear: PEEK material has low density and lightweight texture, making it comfortable for patients to wear without causing additional burden on the oral cavity.

Introduction to Peek Dental Disc

Here are some research data on PEEK dental discs:
1. In terms of mechanical performance:
Tensile strength: Under the testing conditions of 23 ℃ and according to the ISO 527 standard, the tensile strength of PEEK dental discs can reach about 108MPa, indicating that they have high resistance to tensile forces and can withstand certain tensile forces without easily breaking.
Elongation at break: The elongation at break tested according to ISO 527 standard at 23 ℃ is about 16%, indicating that PEEK dental discs have a certain degree of ductility and toughness before fracture occurs.
Bending strength: According to the ISO 178 standard tested at 23 ℃, the bending strength is about 170MPa, which reflects that PEEK dental discs have high strength when subjected to bending forces and are less prone to bending deformation.
Bending modulus: approximately 4.2 GPa (ISO 178 standard, 23 ℃ test conditions). Bending modulus is an indicator of a material's ability to resist bending deformation, and a higher bending modulus means that PEEK dental discs have better rigidity when subjected to bending.
Cantilever beam impact strength: According to the ISO 180/A standard test (with notches), the impact strength of the cantilever beam is about 7.2 kJ/m ², which reflects the impact resistance of the material. PEEK dental discs have a certain degree of impact resistance and can withstand a certain degree of impact without being damaged.
2. In terms of thermal performance:
Melting point: The melting point of PEEK is about 343 ℃, which allows PEEK dental discs to maintain a stable structure at higher temperatures, making them less prone to melting and deformation, and having good heat resistance.
Glass transition temperature: about 143 ℃. Glass transition temperature is the temperature at which the material transitions from a glassy state to a highly elastic state. A higher glass transition temperature indicates that PEEK dental discs are in a relatively stable state at room temperature.
Long term working temperature: PEEK dental discs can be used at high temperatures around 200 ℃ for a long time. In the oral environment, where the relative temperature is not high, the thermal stability of PEEK dental discs can meet the requirements of use very well.
3. In terms of molding shrinkage rate:
Parallel to the flow direction: the molding shrinkage rate is about 1.10%.
Vertical to the flow direction: The molding shrinkage rate is about 1.18%. The relatively small molding shrinkage rate makes PEEK dental discs have good dimensional stability after processing and molding, which can ensure the accuracy and quality of the product.
In terms of clinical research, studies have shown that dental discs made of PEEK material have good biocompatibility. For example, a study found that after PEEK dental discs are implanted into the oral cavity of patients, the inflammatory response of surrounding tissues is milder and the patient's discomfort is lower. And compared with traditional metal dental discs, PEEK dental discs have less wear on other teeth in the oral cavity. In long-term clinical observations, the use of PEEK dental discs has shown good results, with a high success rate and patient satisfaction.
